New School Year

Greetings Everyone,
Happy 2011-2012 school year! It is a new school year with a great deal of excitement. We are off to a super start. We welcome Mr. Mike Roddick as our new principal at MVI. This week we had our PBIS boot camp to learn all the common rules of the school. We are also getting used to a six-day rotation schedule. We have Phy. Ed. on days 2, 4, and 5. Music will be on days 4 and 5. Art will be on Day 6. I have scheduled LMC on days 1 and 3. We will be the first class to have keyboarding during our afternoon beginning the week of September 12th. We have had our pictures taken and will let you know when retakes will happen.
We are beginning a new reading series called Lead 21. I look forward to teaching the class. Students will be divided into groups and be taught by several teachers in small group reading sections after having a large group reading. This program will allow for more integration of reading skills.
This year the class will be switching classes by having Mr. Atteln for Social Studies and I will teach the Science. I will teach the math using the Math Expressions book.
Our class will also have a reading goal every month. We will have two genres to choose from and have the students meet the goal of reading 300 minutes.
The school year is off to a wonderful start.
